The Game of Life: 1 step forward, 10 steps backwards is a 10’x14’ vinyl game board that is adhered to the floor and can be played by 4 players simultaneously. It uses the metaphor of the game to reference politics and life. The game board is composed of selective current news headlines which highlight global and local conflict areas and social issues. The goal of the game is to navigate the ‘hotspots’ in order to find the ‘safe havens’. Do safe havens really exist? Are we fated to be perpetually in conflict with one another? These are some of the existential questions provoked by the Game of Life.
