“she told me how they read poetry together and how they never went to bed angry” “he said he was in the underground and he told me about his friend who was tortured but never gave them any names”
“I think the secret is out…. the secret is out”
"Elle m'a raconté comment ils lisent la poésie ensemble et comment ils ne se couchait jamais en colère" "il a dit qu'il était dans une organisation clandestine et il m'a parlé de son ami qui a été torturé, mais jamais leur a donné les noms de ses copains" "Je pense que le secret est dévoilé .... le secret est dévoilé"

I am interested in the intersection of public and private histories and cultural issues of disjuncture and perception. a fleeting conversation/une conversation éphémère, a site specific work, suggests fragments of stories overheard in chance encounters or hurried conversations as people rush by each other in the passageway. The text on the LED display board describes an intimate moment in a relationship juxtaposed with a subversive political event. The people moving through the passageway encounter this information and for a moment are suspended between conflicting emotional states of love and fear and between fact and fiction. The medium of the LED board references the continuously scrolling pixelboard signage for advertising and reporting news. The texts in both English and French scroll in a continuous loop from right to left on the LED display board. The LED display board is situated well above eye level.
